Work Ethics and It’s Benefit to A Company

Work Ethics and It’s Benefit to A Company

The IBM 2010 International CEO study revealed a rather interesting and notable result that can change the world for the better.

A total of 1500 CEOs participate in the poll from 60 countries in 33 industries worldwide. The poll revealed that less than half of their executives surveyed felt that they or their businesses can successfully handle the growing complexity caused by the changes in global financial power centers, hastened industry transformation, growing volumes of information, and rapidly evolving customer tastes.

The CEOs appear to believe more than rigor, management discipline, integrity, or even visions are essential to equip them and their enterprises because of this growing complexity. The only real skill that could navigate the business within an ever-increasing complicated world and business is CREATIVITY and this was recognized as the number one leadership competency now and later on.

The survey is a vital proof that the planet is entering a new era where creativity is growing more and more important. This finding also suggests that there’s a need to find innovative strategies to manage an organization’s structure, financing, people, and plan, and that old business models cannot offer all the solutions a business needs to remain competitive, profitable, and sustainable.

A challenge nonetheless exists…

The challenge is the attitude, dread, and perceptions people have towards the imagination. People associate imagination with a particular personality or genius of a person, others view it as a particular thinking style (correct brain directed thinking) and some view it that people are just born artistic. So, defining and understanding originality can be debatable. The concept that creativity is a predetermined personality characteristic appeals on a mental level because it gives people an excuse for not innovating or initiating change themselves, reducing the issue of creativity to a recruiting challenge. This makes imagination in business a scarce commodity. But this can no longer be accepted.

So what can business leaders do today?

This article intends to give an interim solution. The guide will first explain the link between creativity and innovation and then show how innovation and creativity can be implemented at work. For more details, read about Teamsters 987 and Union.

The link between creativity and innovation

In literature, various definitions exist to explain the terms of innovation and creativity. For this guide, creativity can be defined as a psychological and social process between the discovery of new associations of ideas or theories which is fuelled by the process of either unconscious or conscious insight.

Three things are Necessary for creativity:

Resources – knowledge, expertise, and access to information.

Creative thinking – that an individual’s capacity to think beyond the box and put existing ideas together in new combinations.

Internal motivation – inspiration from within; a person’s personal wants and passion to be imaginative.

There are three very important aspects to take note of:

Creativity discards preconceived assumptions.

A Creative individual tries a new strategy or method that might seem unthinkable to other people.

Creativity requires divergent thinking (generating many unique thoughts ) and convergent thinking (combining those notions to the best outcome ). Creativity is not a right-brain directed thinking approach but a whole-brain strategy.

In business, imagination is required for innovation. Construction is the process of generating and applying creative thoughts in some particular context. To put it differently, innovation includes the introduction of something new and valuable – an artifact or a method – to a working creation, marketing, or management strategy.

Three factors specify a company’s strengths and flaws of the creation process, namely:

Exactly what a company has (the importance of resources),

The way the firm does its function (the importance of processes), and

What a firm wants to perform (the companies’ worth ).

It is important to note that there are two phases in the process of creation, namely:

An innovation that consists of idea generation, idea evaluation and opportunity recognition (imagination ), and

Exploitation is composed of growth and commercialization (invention ).

Innovation is connected with behaviors, activities, and personalities of the people, or celebrities, engaged in the invention and manipulation steps.

Implementing creativity and innovation in the workplace

Creativity is your basis for disruptive innovation and constant reinvention required in the volatile, uncertain, and complex business environment and begins with”creative thinking” leadership. Business leaders will need to motivate others to drop outdated strategies and take balanced dangers. They need to adopt ambiguity by exemplifying breakthrough thinking. Business leaders need to lead and interact in new ways, decreasing long-held beliefs and business models when required, challenging the status quo, be distinct and revolutionary and search for solutions that will not become tomorrow’s problems.

Business leaders may need to foster cultures of real creativity and invention. This may be done by ensuring that associations meet people’s core needs, namely physical needs, emotional needs, mental demands, and religious needs according to Schwartz (2010:1). This is the key to creativity. The more individuals are preoccupied with unmet needs; the more energy they’ll bring to their work and the less creative they will be.

Creativity can be taught and business leaders must put in the effort to teach creativity systematically to workers. Business leaders may utilize a six-step strategy to teach their workers to be creative and innovative. These six steps are a combination of Plsek’s Directed Creativity Cycle created in 1992 and Luecke and Katz’s Innovation version of 2003 (Cropley 2008:271). The first four measures involve creativity and the previous two steps involve creation.

Step 1: Preparation and activation

During this step, workers observe and gather information, difficulty awareness develops and investigation occurs.

Step 2: Imagination and generation

Here a selection of possible options are generated

Step 3: Development and Illumination

One or more promising, innovative solutions are chosen and enhanced

Measure 4: Action and confirmation

Evaluate and analyze so that one solution can be developed

Step 5: Communication

The product is shown to educated others

Step 6: Validation

The item is launched/ employed in the market. The company must live with it before improvements could be made

Business leaders should encourage workers to express their own unique talents and nurture their passion by putting workers in roles that excite their creativity (Schwartz, 2010:1-2). Business leaders must ensure that workers understand that their work matter because human-beings are all meaning-making animals. Creative thinking is sparked when people know that their contributions and work make a difference.

Creative thinking requires time and business leaders will need to provide an uninterrupted period, free of stress for instant answers and instant answers to promote the creative idea. The very best way to promote innovation is to program”particular time-out sessions” regularly. Employees also need time to recuperate and be renewed and cannot operate continuously. They need to be able to step away from the problem to allow the unconscious mind to operate and meditate and only then can creative discoveries happen (Schwartz, 2010:1-2).

Business leaders may enhance creative thinking and innovation in their organizations or conquer imagination (Sloane, 2003:1-2). The business leaders need to prevent:

Criticism,

Neglecting brainstorming,

Choosing efficacy over innovation,

Overworking individuals,

Not wanting something as it is not in the program’ or possess a mindset of why fix it as it functions’,

Laying the attribute,

Wrong rewards,

Neglecting training.

To Boost innovation and creativity, business leaders need to:

Lay the foundations for change,

Make their vision actual,

Request searching questions,

Take a different perspective (not the status quo opinion ),

Blend the odd with all the usual,

Break the principles,

Welcome experimentation and learning, and

Utilize the team and arrange the group for innovation.
